Denny's - Mainland, Sunday Morning

Upon going to drag Stiles out for his morning violent flail run this morning, it became abundantly clear that something more was needed. Because Beacon Hills was an evil place and damn it, he'd warned the kid about going back there.

Therefore, it was time for a Denny's trip. Where one could repress their trauma via a Grand Slam.

"I'm not going to get murdered." Even he looked like he wasn't sure of that. "Since my virginity is literally a threat on my life now maybe someone will have sex with me? Danny might, he's nice. Oh or Mike! Do you think Mike would have sex with me if I said I might die if he didn't?"

"I just told you I can't," he said. "Look, it's my fault Heather was alone that night, I'm responsible for what happened. I owe it to her to find who did this. My dad's doing what he can but if it's being done for some supernatural reason he's only getting half the information."

"But he's not the one in danger if they're killing virgins."

"You can't stop me from going back there." He was not afraid to pull the brat card, no.

"Want to bet?" Oh, this would only end in tears. And Stiles going there anyway.

"I'd love to see you try," Stiles said. "I'm not going to hide here while people back home are dying. I can help."

"What is your problem with people trying to keep you safe?" Derek snapped, causing the waitress to make a u-turn to avoid giving him a refill on his coffee.

Stiles sighed. He had wanted more coffee, goddammit. "I'm not trying to seem ungrateful over the fact you'd rather see me alive than dead. I just can't ignore this. Would you be able to?"

This is what happens when you two argue in public.

Derek huffed because of course he wanted Stiles still alive. And, he had him there about not being able to turn away when he could do something to help. You know, things would be so much easier if he really was the person people thought he was.

"Take Scott with you then." Yeah, like that'll happen when you kick Isaac out, Derek.

"The werewolves have their own problems at the moment, man," Stiles said. "But I'll take Scott when I can. It's not like I want to be killed, you know."

Derek looked up at that, expression sharp for a moment before he pushed down the urge to ask about that. "Ask." He sighed before continuing. "Ask Barton for something to protect yourself."

"If you're talking like a crossbow or something, I'm not sure that's the best idea," he said. "I almost took Scott's eye out with Allison's crossbow once."

"...of course you did." This is why he was being insane, Stiles. This right here. "Mace? Or would you spray yourself?"

"I mean I have before but what are the odds of doing it a third time?" he asked. "I think it would be easier to get someone to have sex with me."

"Mace it is."

"You know if I ask Mr. Barton for mace he's gonna ask what I need it for and he might somehow be even more protective than you are when he finds out it's a virgin killer." That was likely the idea, Stiles.

Stop catching onto him! "And that's a bad thing how?"

"It's a bad thing if it keeps me from going back home," he said. "I'm on to you."

"You caught me," he deadpanned. "You still need protection. Shouldn't your dad have some mace?"

"How do you think I sprayed myself twice before?" Mace was no longer allowed in the Stilinski house. "Dude, chill, I'll talk to Mr. Barton or whatever. Even though I think you are slightly overreacting. Do you know how many virgins are in Beacon Hills? What are the odds of me being targeted?"

Pretty high considering he was going to be poking at the killer.

"You're going after the killer, Stiles." Think about your life choices. "And you're already surrounded by werewolves."

"I really think you're overreacting." Stop caring about him, Derek, it made it harder to repress.

Well, stop making it difficult for him to repress by being in dangerous situations!

"You think I'm overreacting." That's what he said, Derek.

"A little," he said. "I mean, yeah, my virgin status being a hazard to my health is a new one but this isn't the first time I've been in danger."
