As was probably shocking to absolutely no one, Derek did not socialize much at age ten. Which is why having a sleep-over was just crazy talk if you asked him.

Crazy talk.

But that wasn't going to stop him from trying out this whole thing. With friends.

"This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever done in my life," Stiles said to himself, not even bothering to knock on the door before coming in. Mostly because his hands were full with a sleeping bag and pillow tucked under one arm and a couple of pizzas and his laptop balanced in the other hand.

Seriously, he was never ever telling Scott about this part of the weekend.

"What is?" SORRY FOR THE HEARING EVERYTHING YOU SAY, STILES.

Stupid werewolf hearing! "Been awhile since I've been to a sleepover."

And he had definitely never had a sleepover with the child-sized version of a werewolf that enjoyed putting him through pain on a frequent basis, so.

"Take this," Stiles said, holding out the arm that had the pizzas and his laptop. "It's a miracle I didn't manage to drop them."

Well, that was something he could cross off his bucket list. Wasn't Fandom a magical place for allowing him to do that?

Derek took the boxes and laptop easily, frowning down at the laptop for a moment. "Is that a computer?"

It wasn't very brick-like.

"Yeah," Stiles said with a nod. "I downloaded a bunch of Disney movies we can watch until the battery dies."

"I'm ten," Derek reminded him. "Not a baby."

Though The Fox and The Hound would make him bawl like a baby. So. There was that.

"Dude, you're never too old for Disney movies," Stiles said, looking insulted. "But I also have horror movies I was saving for Halloween if you're more into that. Do psychotic clowns do anything for you?"

Clowns were sent by Satan himself, Stiles.

"I'm not scared." Liiiiiies.

"Oh good, then you won't mind if we watch it then." Stiles, you were a jerk. "So what part of this run down shack are we having this sleepover in?"

SUCH A JERK.

And probably going to need to deal with attempted clawings during the scary parts. So, it evened out.

"There's a living room. It doesn't have any furniture, though."

And it had cobwebs.

Let's be real, he would deserve those claw marks for putting a child through IT.

"That's why I brought the sleeping bag," Stiles said, lifting it up. "Does Mike know you're throwing a party here tonight?"

"He bought snacks!" Which made him awesome.

[robinonadderall]

"That was nice of him," he said. "Though I really can't picture him snuggling down in a sleeping bag and watching scary movies."

"Oh good, another adult!" Mike said in greeting. Then reconsidered. "Well, you're like what, fourteen? But it's close enough. Welcome, man."

"Sixteen." The legal age of consent in Maryland, Mike, thank you very much! "I hope you don't mind all this...Derek's weirdly convincing when he's a child."

"Yeah, I've noticed." Even if Mike was still kind of just glossing over the fact that the kid was supposed to be his grumpy squatter because... Well, that just made no kind of sense. "It's fine. It livens up the house a little."

"He's going to be brooding like nobody's business when he's an adult again though," Stiles warned him. "So take advantage of him doing embarrassing things now. And make sure you send the pictures to someone else before he can crush your phone."

"I think I'd just prefer if he didn't crush my phone at all," Mike decided. "If at all possible. I got snacks, he can't hate me that much."

He probably could, though.

"Dude, I let him eat his weight in pancakes yesterday and he's still gonna glare and shove me into something painful when he becomes adult sized again," Stiles said. "It's what he does."

Mike shrugged a shoulder. Hey, he'd so far avoided getting shoved. "Well, it's not like we could just leave him to his own devices, right? You really don't think that'll count for something?"

Oh, Mike, you sweet summer child. "No, no I don't. It's not gonna count for anything."

"Hey, I'm not sure I even buy that's Derek!" Mike pointed out in his own defence. "Because that makes absolutely no fucking sense at all. This could just be, I don't know, some very elaborate hazing."

"Where would we find a kid who has the same expressive eyebrows as Derek?" he asked.

Shrug. "I don't know, there are a lot of eyebrows and kids out there in the world."

"I really hope this island doesn't end up giving you a heart attack." Because, seriously, this wasn't all that bad compared to other stuff he's seen here.
