Laura was once again gone. And Derek was totally fine about that. Yeah, totally fine. He was just glaring down at his coffee cup like it offended him on every level possible and would set it on fire with the power of his hatred.

And he was apparently talking to Stiles again.

Well, it had really been more of a kidnapping because the kid had his jeep available to drive them to Denny's while the Camaro was still in Beacon Hills. But, you know, whatever got him a Grand Slam of sadness.

"Scott was out of desperation," Stiles said. "Nobody wants to accept the bite from a crazy person."

"Crazy." Give him more clues, Stiles. Yesss yessss.

"I tend to think most murderers are at least a little bit crazy," Stiles said. "And biting Scott without doing your research? Either crazy or stupid. We were both out in the woods that night, two seconds of eavesdropping would be enough to tell I was the better choice."

"But you don't want it." Right, Stiles?

"I don't think so?" That wasn't an confusing answer at all. "I mean, I told him I didn't want it but he said I was lying."

"Were you lying?" That was an important question, you know.

Stiles shrugged. "I don't know."

The decision would be easier to make if he wasn't surrounded by flop alphas.

Hey now. You're going to end up in the middle of the Alpha Pack, being fought over.

Derek shrugged. "Then why talk about how much better a werewolf you'd make?"

"Because I'm just a lowly human and it makes me feel better," Stiles said. "Let me embrace the fact I'm the only one with common sense, okay?"

Hey, Derek had some common sense. Sometimes. About fashion.

That earned him an eye roll. Because he was a big fan of eye rolling. "You would be an even bigger pain in the ass as a werewolf. But you wouldn't be trying to claw your way into a hunter's pants."

Hopefully. Chris was pretty attractive, though...

"Well I don't know, Lydia Martin proves I clearly like unattainable badasses." So Chris defintely counts there. "But I doubt being a werewolf would make me less of a plague...so okay, yeah, I probably wouldn't claw my way into a hunter's pants. Or anybody's pants."

"Good." Because sex was evil.

"I'm glad you approve of me being unappealing to everyone on the planet." Except for creepers.

"It's the sarcasm," Derek replied. "Not so appealing."

"It's a family trait," Stiles said. "Take it up with the sheriff."

"And there it goes again. Less and less attractive each time."

"Oh like you can even judge," he said. "You are made of sarcasm."

"And I don't want people to flirt with me." Oh snap!

"I can't stop being sarcastic, it's who I am." Stiles decided to sacrifice a pancake bite by throwing it at Derek's head. He still held the hope that he'd hit him one day.

One day! When Derek was asleep or half dead. You pick a better time, Stiles.

Instead of that happening, Derek shifted to the side to catch the pancake bite in his mouth. Like it was a snausage. "I'm sure."

Stiles snorted and covered his mouth to keep from laughing too loud. "Oh my god! I feel like I should scratch behind your ears or something."

"Do it and lose a hand." Oh, who could take you seriously anymore, Derek.

[robinonadderall]

"I'm terrified." There was that sarcasm again. "Seriously, that was adorable."

"Oh, how is it you don't have a girlfriend, Stiles?"

[robinonadderall]

"'Cause everyone thinks I'm dating the scary bartender with permastubble." Sure, blame your lack of game on Derek.
