Still Pretty Creepy Mansion on Phoenix Way, Tuesday Morning

Derek was just not allowed to have a normal week. Though the last few times it had been on the weekends... Not the point! The point is that today he woke up at the tender age of fifteen.

On the day of the full moon.

Which Derek would blame for why he was in the kitchen demolishing all the food they had there.

"Stiles," he said, doing a lot of staring because this might be weirder than the little kid Derek. "Why does this stuff always happen to you?"

"Nothing's happening to me," Derek replied a little too loudly, trying to wipe smudged mustard off the corner of his mouth.

"Riiiiiight." Because you usually were a baby-faced teenager who seemed to have acquired Stiles' eating habits, Derek. "Are you trying to consume everything in the fridge?"

And method of dressing. Because he didn't need to wear the colors to match his black, leathery soul yet. That and he was so itty bitty. You could just pinch those cheeks.

The ones on his face. Who are you, Kate Argent? GOD.

"No." Yes. "I was hungry."

"You don't say." Oh pictures would so be happening. Scott could add them to his scrapbook of hilarious Derek pictures. "Is this a full moon thing?"

The existence of that scrapbook would only encourage Laurie, Stiles. Just sayin'.

"A what?" Derek was so good at lying. Mostly by looking like a puppy of some sort.

Stiles reeled back from that look, slightly horrified that it actually fit Derek while he was like this rather than making him look like someone who stored body parts in their fridge.

"Yeah, you can save that look," Stiles said, looking slightly ridiculous because he had put his hand over his eyes. Smiley teenage Derek would take some getting used to. "Know about werewolves, not a hunter, etcetera, etcetera..."

The smile dropped and he looked deeply suspicious for a moment. But not too long because apparently he was easy pickings for cunning people.

"And you're here on a full moon." This was Derek judging you, Stiles. Again. "That's not the smartest."

"So I've been told," he said, taking a quick peak before uncovering his eyes. "I can handle myself, don't worry, my question is if you can---hey, I'm taller than you!"

That was awesome.

"Are not!" That was a knee jerk reaction, it seemed. Even though it was so, so true.

Stiles moved closer just to prove his point. "Dude, I totally am."

[justlurkinghere]

"Shut up." And stop picking on a werewolf during his time of the month. "I'm due a growth spurt."

[robinonadderall]

"You're still not gonna be taller than me," Stiles said, laughing. "I'll put money on it."

"So what?" Derek grumbled, smashing a corner of his terrifying sandwich before eating it. "I'm stronger and faster."

And full of more emo manpain.

"Yeah, well, I don't have Bugs Bunny teeth." Mature, Stiles.

[justlurkinghere]

"No, but you look like Charlie Brown." Accurate on several levels.

[robinonadderall]

"I do not!" Would this conversation have gone differently if one or both of them were older? Probably not. "You've still got food on your face, you hog."

Pot, kettle.

"Blockhead." Now Derek was forced to use the sleeve of a too long shirt to scrub that away. "I'm fine tonight. You don't have to be here."

"That's what they all say, and yet more often than not I find myself chasing down werewolves in the woods or police stations during the full moon." How had this become his life?

"Look, I don't think you need to be handcuffed to a radiator or anything like that," Stiles said. "But let me put mountain ash around the place so on the off chance you do freak out it will at least be contained."

"What?" Stiles, your words confuse him so. "I'm fine. It's not my first moon, you know."

Just the first without his family around. QUICK SOMEONE CALL LAURA.

"Mountain ash?"

"Have you not learned about mountain ash yet or are you wondering why I'd use it on you?" Stiles asked. "Because, seriously, I can't let you wander around the island during the full moon."

"Wondering how you got any more like," Derek mumbled. Because he only knew about that advisor of his family in some vague, nebulous manner. Like how you knew your parents had real lives outside the house. "I'm not going to wander around. I'm just going to stay here and--"

Wait a minute. "I'm guessing this place doesn't have a TV or video games."

"Wait, you play video games?" Stiles' mind broke a little trying to picture that.

"Yes?" No, he lived in a cave.

[robinonadderall]

"That's...wow." Now Stiles was wondering what character Derek would choose in Mario Kart. It probably came as a shock to absolutely no one that Stiles played as Peach.

"Okay, how about if you let me mountain ash the house tonight I'll bring games and stuff over so you won't get bored?"
