As was probably shocking to absolutely no one, Derek did not socialize much at age ten. Which is why having a sleep-over was just crazy talk if you asked him.

But that wasn't going to stop him from trying out this whole thing. With friends.

"I'm not a bear! Bears can't talk."

"So? You're a magic bear."

"Am not!" He was a werewolf!

"Then what are you?"

[justlurkinghere]

"I'm--not a bear." Because he wasn't a human either.

[locointhecoco]

"That's not really an answer," Pinkie pointed out.

"I'm different, okay?" That worked for him.

[locointhecoco]

"Okay," Pinkie agreed readily enough. "But that doesn't tell me why you think you know anything about ponies."

"And you don't know about people." It made sense. "...are you going to stay?"

"Do you want me to?" Pinkie had no idea how anypony was supposed to tell. Social skills were not yet something she had any experience with.

"Of course! It's a sleep over."

Pinkie brightened, her mouth wobbling slightly. "Okay. I will then."

"Jan is using my sleeping bag, but we can probably find you some... thing. Do ponies use blankets?" Derek asked slowly.

Pinkie nodded. "And pillows and things. Do . . . whatevers use pillows?"

"Of course!" Because ponies and people had so much in common, you could see. "I don't know how many are here, though."

[locointhecoco]

"We should go look." She'd have to leave the corner, first, though.

[justlurkinghere]

Yeeeah. There was that. "You stay here. I'll find one. I promise."

It might end up being the pillow he woke up with, but still.

If Pinkie didn't have to leave the corner, she was just fine with that. The whole place was full of strange hairless bears, after all.
