Mike glanced around. Yeah, he was not keen on people running around the house, actually.

"... Maybe if we rig up some lighting for the yard."

"Nope!" Derek replied, already digging into the box for a slice. "It's a gift."

There would still be cheating. "The woods would be good for it!"

"No." Yeah, just no. "That's too dangerous."

"Oh good, another adult!" Mike said in greeting. Then reconsidered. "Well, you're like what, fourteen? But it's close enough. Welcome, man."

"My dad would be so jealous," Stiles said, shaking his head. "I force him to eat rabbit food."

"Sixteen." The legal age of consent in Maryland, Mike, thank you very much! "I hope you don't mind all this...Derek's weirdly convincing when he's a child."

"Yeah, I've noticed." Even if Mike was still kind of just glossing over the fact that the kid was supposed to be his grumpy squatter because... Well, that just made no kind of sense. "It's fine. It livens up the house a little."

"He's going to be brooding like nobody's business when he's an adult again though," Stiles warned him. "So take advantage of him doing embarrassing things now. And make sure you send the pictures to someone else before he can crush your phone."

"I'm allowed to back home." FOR A REASON, DEREK.

"You could let him eat a rabbit too," Derek joked. Yes. Joked.

"What, seriously?" Mike asked, briefly distracted. But only briefly. "Well, my house, my rules. Sorry, kiddo."

"I think I'd just prefer if he didn't crush my phone at all," Mike decided. "If at all possible. I got snacks, he can't hate me that much."

He probably could, though.

"Stiles would let me," Derek grumbled. Because he was a sulky little brat.

"Well, then you can go over to Stiles's house to play," Mike pointed out. "Except he's a high schooler, so I doubt he has a house."

"He has a dorm!" That was filled with children. And don't think Derek wouldn't do there if he didn't get nervous around people his own age.

"Not a house, though."

Clearly the point here.

Mike ate some more chips.

Derek rolled his eyes, sighing heavily. "He's cooler than you."

"See, you're joking now," Stiles said. "But he totally would if given the chance. He loves heart attack-inducing foids."

"Dude, I let him eat his weight in pancakes yesterday and he's still gonna glare and shove me into something painful when he becomes adult sized again," Stiles said. "It's what he does."

Mike just laughed. His self esteem was made of stronger stuff than what could be shaken by annoyed words from a ten-year-old.

"Okay, sure, if you say so."

"Don't they have medicine for that?" That would totally let you eat all the good foods. Derek, it seemed, had a firm grasp on normal medical practices for humans.

DAMN IT, MIKE. "I bet he has a fridge."

Mike shrugged a shoulder. Hey, he'd so far avoided getting shoved. "Well, it's not like we could just leave him to his own devices, right? You really don't think that'll count for something?"

"Probably," Mike said easily. "But he probably has to share it with two dozen other teenagers."
