After a very quiet week for Derek, he was on the mainland to surprise Stiles. With a cake.

Which hopefully made his socially awkward lurking in the lobby of the dorm better.

(It did not. But there was cake.)

"Sucks to be them," Derek drawled.

"We wouldn't be able to deal with a real long distance relationship," Stiles said. "If I went to school anywhere else you would have found the nearest abandoned building to lurk in."

"...I would not." So, so would.

"Derek."

[justlurkinghere]

"I'd get an apartment." After Stiles sighed at him a lot.

He laughed. "Oh okay. That's much better."

Derek rolled his eyes and leaning over to kiss him. "It's a good thing we don't have to test it."

"A very good thing," he agreed. "Though we might come across that if I go to grad school."

"You given that thought?" Derek asked, rolling onto his stomach to put his chin on Stiles' arm like it was a pillow.

"Well I'm only finishing up my freshman year so I have a lot of time to decide," Stiles said. "But yeah. Maybe."

"Let me know when you decide so I can find the best abandoned place in the city."

[robinonadderall]

He chuckled. "I'll keep you in the know."

"By the way, you don't need to count grad school into the whole waiting for marriage thing."

"That so?"

[robinonadderall]

"That's so."

[justlurkinghere]

"So I'll have to start looking for rings." A beat. "Rings for fingers."

[robinonadderall]

"It's gonna take you three years to find a ring?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"Gives me all the time." Or end up finding a family ring in the magic vault under the school.

[robinonadderall]

"Should I be finding you a ring too?" It'd take him three years just to save up money for one.

[justlurkinghere]

Derek smiled at that. "I suppose you could."

[robinonadderall]

"No silver?" he teased.

[justlurkinghere]

"Oh, ha ha." Human's got jokes!

"I'm hilarious."

[justlurkinghere]

"Keep telling yourself that," Derek replied dryly.
