Mike was out of the house, probably working on island or... something else. Either way, Derek was alone in the mansion, eyeing his phone every few minutes like he'd hear from the Sheriff with an update on Stiles any moment now.

Which meant they were still looking and he was still waiting for the slim chance that Stiles came back to Fandom instead of sticking around Beacon Hills. Stiles. Not the nogitsune. That was all he could hope for right now as he waited less and less patiently with each passing day.

Derek sighed, leaning more heavily against the kitchen counter as he tried and failed to not feel how quiet and lonely the house was right now.

Well the nogitsune did come to the island eventually. He first had to spend a few days in Beacon Hills setting up stuff and things to cause a little chaos, but he showed up eventually.

Mostly to make sure none of his plans got screwed up. And to, you know, mess with Derek at the same time. Two-for-one.

He just strolled right into the house, acting like nothing was amiss.

Well that was rude.

Derek's head shot up at the sound and scent. "Stiles?"

"It's me." Sort of.

Know what else was rude? Not having a heartbeat change at the lie.

"What happened? How did you--"

"I-I don't know," he said, shaking his head. Sure, he'd roll with this for a little bit. "I don't remember much."

Derek really couldn't help but put his hands on Stiles to convince himself gl that he was really there. "I should call your dad."

"I don't think that's a good idea."

[justlurkinghere]

"He's been worried about you, Stiles."

[robinonadderall]

"I know," he said. "I just--I just need some time to think before everyone swarms on me, okay?"

He felt like that was something Stiles would say.

Derek gave him a disapproving look because, yes, that did sound like something Stiles would say. "Do you know how long you've been gone?"

The nogitsune shook his head. "How long?"

"Two days, Stiles," Derek ground out, pulling him in for a kiss. "Do you know how worried I--we all were?"

"You were worried," the nogitsune repeated. The look on his face melted away into something a little more cold and serious. "Then why were you just sitting around the house?"

Yeah he was kind of done with this pretending to be Stiles thing.

That wasn't very nice of him.

"What?"

The nogitsune pressed his lips together for a moment before bursting out with laughter. "Oh man, the look on your face!"

Derek eyed him for a moment before reaching for his phone. "I'm calling your dad."

The nogitsune shot a hand out and grabbed Derek's wrist, squeezing tightly. "No, Derek, you're not."

Derek growled, baring still human teeth in a little snarl. "Let go."

Because this wasn't the Stiles he knew. Which left only one other culprit.

"Sure thing, Derek." He let go of Derek's wrist. But followed it up with a swift punch to the face.

So rude! Nothing about this was okay with Derek!

But, as was Derek's habit, he wasn't letting that stop him from moving forward to grab for Stiles' arms and subdue him before someone got hurt.

The nogitsune broke out of Derek's hold easily, and even tried to switch it around so he had Derek by the back of the neck. "I'm not your weak little boyfriend anymore, Derek."

"Let him go." Yes, Derek was making demands even as he was getting his ass kicked.

[robinonadderall]

"Oh sure, since you asked so nicely." Yeah that wasn't happening. Instead he was dragging Derek towards the basement door. Because they were going to have fun down there.

Okay, Derek had spent too much time in torture basements to want to go there with you, Nogitsune. Sorry not sorry.

Which would be why he was giving up on trying not to hurt Stiles as he clawed at the hand holding his neck.

The nogitsune winced, loosening his grip on Derek momentarily. Luckily he healed pretty quickly. "That's not very nice."
