Derek

So, after the number one most awkward ride in the car of Peter's dead nurse later, and they were at the high school. Just in time for people to be filtering out of the parking lot and back home after the lacrosse game.

The one that Stiles missed in order to help him.

Derek looked down, wondering if he doing the right thing in following the only member of his family he had left. It wasn't how his mother led, that was for sure.

He barely repressed a sigh as Peter killed the lights to the nearly deserted locker room, luring Scott into the shower area with one of the lacrosse balls. Seriously, how dramatic was that?

Scott

"What the hell–-" Scott started before recognizing Derek. Because, dude, lurking in the boys locker room was just weird. But at least he was getting used to Derek doing it.

Still weird, though.

"Thank God! Where the hell have you been? Do you have any idea what's been going on?"

Derek

Derek looked up, eyes moving to the spot behind Scott so that the kid would turn around and notice Peter finally.

Because why talk when you were questioning just about every move you were making right now?

Peter

"I really don't get Lacrosse," Peter said, examining some kid's lacrosse stick he'd picked up.

Scott

"It was you," Scott started to say, looking back at Derek for confirmation on this. When no response was forthcoming, he looked back at Peter.

Seriously, Peter?

Peter

"When I was in high school, we played basketball," Peter continued like they were a pair of nervous nellys over there. "There's a real sport. Still, I read somewhere that Lacrosse comes from native Americans tribes and that they played it to resolve conflict. I have that right?"

He hummed thoughtfully before putting the stick back down "I have a little conflict of my own to resolve, Scott. But I need your help to do it."

Scott

"I'm not helping you kill people."

Peter

"Well, I don't want to kill all of them," Peter said, being perfectly reasonable about his murder. "Just the responsible ones. And that doesn't have to include–"

He paused, trying to think of the right name before he looked to Derek to supply it.

Derek

"Allison," Derek replied dully.

Right at that point, Derek really wished he had Scott's naive conviction about this. Instead of a crazy uncle and both hunters and cops after him.

Scott

"You're on his side?" Was Scott taking crazy pills? "Are you forgetting the part where he killed your sister?"

Derek

"It was a mistake," Derek said, keeping emotion out of his voice and his heartbeat even as he looked at his uncle. The pleased look he found there brought all those reasonable doubts and a sense of revulsion rolling to the surface. "It happens."

It did not, in fact, happen.

Peter

"Scott, I think you're getting the wrong impression of us," Peter said with a faint smile as he walked toward the boy. "We really just want to help you reach your full potential."

Scott

"By killing my friends," Scott said. Because that right there was kind of a sticking point, thanks.

Peter

"Sometimes the people closest to you can be the ones holding you back the most," Peter said with the utmost honesty.

Scott

"If they're holding me back from becoming a psychotic nut job like you, I'm okay with that," Scott replied, going for the 'Biggest Balls of the Year' award.

Peter

"Maybe," Peter started, closing what little distance there was between him and Scott and revealing claws on the end of each finger. "You could try and see things from my perspective."

Then, before the boy could move, dug those claws into the back of his neck.

Derek

Derek started at that, showing more emotion than he had since they had left the hospital together. Because Scott was twitching violently at that, falling to the floor once Peter pulled his claws out and walked away.

He looked from the spot where Peter had been to where Scott lay on the ground, seeing whatever memories it was that were stuck in his head. He... was really going to need help dealing with this.
