It's Creepy If You Squint Mansion, Thursday afternoon

So, it was Thanksgiving and Derek--shockingly--was not in a social mood. Because he was an outgoing social butterfly on most days, you know.

That would be why he was eating Chinese food and watching whatever movie marathon he could find on TV. More accurately he was picking at the food and looking morose.

Family based holidays were no fun for him.

Plus, if they stepped back, it was admitted defeat. So.

"I can throw you across the room."

"I'd be taller than you either way."

[justlurkinghere]

"You'd still be across the room." Because that was soooo likely to happen.

"Come on, just admit I'm taller than you," Stiles said, bouncing on his heels. "It's no big deal. I mean I'm short compared to some people. Isaac's taller than everybody 'cause he's a freak of nature, so it's not like you're alone in shortness."

"I'm not short." You're rude, Stiles. "You're just a weed."

"A tall weed," he said. "Let me know if you need me to grab anything for you from a high shelf."

"So I can watch you fall over?" Derek asked, flicking at Stiles' shoulder. SERIOUSLY, GUYS. TAKE A STEP BACK.

THIS WAS A PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE DISTANCE TO STAND.

"I'm not that clumsy." Yes he was. "And don't flick me."

This was, of course, followed by Stiles trying to flick Derek's neck.

SURE, IF THEY LIKED HAVING CHESTS ALMOST TOUCH. THEN IT WAS JUST FINE.

"You really are," Derek shot back, flicking Stiles' chest this time. Because maturity was high today.

Plus side? Not thinking about his dead, dead family.

STILES DIDN'T MIND IT.

Stiles lifted his eyebrows because obviously any chance of acting like mature adults had gone out the window now. So obviously it was the right time to flick Derek on the nose.

"Do that again and lose a finger."

SERIOUSLY. EVERYONE IS JUDGING YOU GUYS NOW. EVERYONE. PUPPY JOE IS JUDGING YOU AS HE GNAWS ON HIS BONE.

"You started it," Stiles said. But he kept his hands to himself. For the moment. It probably wouldn't last.

Derek bared his teeth at that in a smile. A smile with fangs.

...and bunny teeth.

You know there was something wrong with Stiles when he responded to that with a smile. "My, what big teeth you have."

Deeply, deeply wrong. Derek blinked at that, head jerking back and turning ever so slightly red under the stubble. Because what he was thinking wasn't at all what Stiles meant with the joke.

"Better to eat with," he grumbled, going back to the couch and his fried rice.

Stiles responded to that with an eye roll because that was better than trying to think about why Derek would be turning red over that. He flopped down on the couch next to Derek and grabbed the remote. "I'm considering that a win for me."

Derek shoved food into his mouth than strictly necessary. "You would."

"Now who's being gross?" Stiles said. "No falling asleep during The Godfather. Even if I fall asleep you're not allowed to."

"I'll keep that in mind," Derek said with a sigh, getting his composure back. "Try not to drool."
