Derek had repaired the hole in his house since the last time it had been the full moon, and had attempted to make one of the rooms more secure for a new werewolf. Which amounted to more chains and a few pieces of wood.

Look, he was a werewolf and tended to scare off the This Old House style shows at the hardware store on the mainland. This was the best you were going to get.

ExpandWhich is sad, because This Old Werewolf House would be an amazing show. )

At this rate, Derek was beginning to give serious thought to not sticking around on island for the weekends. First he woke up as a woman, and now there was a wolf in his sleeping bag with him. Along with the goddamn puppy.

How was this his life?

"It's too early for you to have a fit," a voice that reminded him very strongly of his sister informed him. The wolf was awake and staring up at him, it would seem

The talking wolf.

Right.

Derek did the wise thing and mostly just glared back in confusion. Then, he grabbed his phone to give Jack a call about this terrible, terrible situation. Of terribleness.

Derek had actually had three puppies stick around in his house after Thursday. Not that he'd wanted them or anything, but they hadn't gone away.

Or left him alone.

And they kept eating his food.

But today? Today there was only one puppy left. In the middle of the night, two of the puppies had left to go find a better place. Possibly some sort of Alpha herd of teal deer. And that got Derek's abandonment issues all up in a tizzy.

Which was possibly why he was allowing that last dog to stay. Even though it looked like a genetic experiment between a dog and a ball of cotton. It was just so fluffy.

He stared down at the dog, trying to will it into being something more intimidating so that allowing it to stay wasn't such a chore. The dog attempted to gnaw on his jacket in response. Look, it was a puppy. Puppies are about as smart as a very hungry rock.

Derek was used to not always being what was considered a 'normal' shape. He was even used to sudden changes between normal and abnormal. But that didn't really prepare him for this morning. So, thanks for that, Fandom. Thanks a bunch.

His phone ringing was what woke him up, of all things.

"'lo," he muttered, not about to leave the warm cocoon of his sleeping bag in the cool morning hours. Look, he lived in an abandoned mansion. This isn't that shocking.

"...is Derek there?"

Derek frowned, taking a deep breath to focus on what the hell his sister was saying. "What? Laura--" Wait a minute. Waaaaait a minute. His hand went to his throat, then moved down to where there were new things on his chest. "What."

"Okay, I'm going to pretend this didn't happen and you're going to have my brother call me back," she said before abruptly cutting out. Explaining this was going to be the worst thing ever.

He was going to have to kill someone. Simple as that.

Nothing said 'bonding activity' quite like breaking out the chains and restraints. Not true? Really, guys? They're werewolves, some weird stuff was only to be expected.

Just be glad no one broke out the torture implements.

ExpandI feel like I should make a CCR joke here... )

justlurkinghere: (lurking in the shadows now)
There was an abandoned house surrounded by a nicely wooded area. How had Derek not found this place sooner? Because he needed a real place to stay that wasn't roughing it a little more hardcore than anyone in their right mind would attempt with summer coming to an end. So, the abandoned mansion it was.

Just don't expect him to fix it up. Look, he stayed in the burned out husk of his family home for, like, a month. Or would. He wasn't picky about places to stay. At all.

He glared at the bare rooms, moving from floor to floor to check for which place would be best to stay in. Because when you were squatting in an abandoned mansion, you wanted the most cozy room you could find. And one that you could escape easily in case you were attacked.

THAT WAS TOTALLY NORMAL, GUYS. TOTALLY NORMAL.
