Well, there weren't any crazy aliens here. Which was probably for the best as Derek was enjoying a nice, quiet weekend where nothing was attempting to kill him.

It was novel because his life was usually the worst thing ever.

But right now, the worst thing in Derek's life was the fact that his overly ambitious garden had weeds in it. Things were certainly looking up. Even if he was getting stabbed by the weeds as he pulled them.

Stiles was a sane person and had spent his Sunday morning indoors. He did look out the window occasionally to make sure the garden hadn't rebelled and tried to eat Derek.

Eventually he did poke his head out the back door. "Do you want water or something?"

See, he was a caring husband to be.

"That'd be nice," he replied. "If you're not too busy staying indoors when the weather is nice."

He was super judgmental.

Stiles rolled his eyes and went back inside to get some water. He was outside a minute or so later, water in hand.

"You could have texted if you were thirsty." Unless Derek was some sort of freak who didn't have his phone on him at all times.

"Texted you?"

"Yeah," he said, handing Derek the glass. "It's a form of communication that I know you're familiar with."

There was that judgement again as Derek downed it in one go. Look, he'd been working hard.

"You're right inside. I'm not going to text you."

And not just because his phone was inside and in need of being charged.

"Well then you would have gone thirsty if I hadn't decided to be a loving fiance and check up on you."

"You would have abandoned me out here?" Derek asked, making sad eyes at him.

Stiles sighed and put his hands on his hips. "You know how I feel about the outdoors."

"What if we get one of those three seasons rooms?" Derek, stop watching HGTV.

He tilted his head to the side as he thought about it. "Will I have wifi in there?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Yes," he replied with a sigh.

"Then that I'll agree to," he said, sitting on the ground near Derek. "We can do it with the house we get after the wedding."

"You just don't want to help now."

[robinonadderall]

"I don't want you to spend money on two of them," Stiles corrected. "I'm thinking of you."

"Oh, is that it?" Derek asked, pulling him in for a kiss. While being sweaty and gross.

Stiles somehow put up with that. Somehow. "You so love this dirty, sweaty outdoors thing with this garden."

"Maybe a little bit."

A lot. He loved it so, so much.

"You're pretty hot when you're covered in dirt," he admitted. "You look all rugged and manly."

"Goes with the beard." The softcore lumberjack beard.

[robinonadderall]

"Yup," Stiles said, cupping Derek's cheek to run his fingers through said beard. Though that only made him notice something. At least he thought he saw it. "...huh. You didn't tell me you got gray in your beard."

"...what."

STILES, WHAT.

[robinonadderall]

"Right here," he said, pointing at a spot where a single teeny tiny gray hair was. "You've got a gray hair in your beard."

If he sounded like it wasn't that big of a deal it was because it wasn't that big of a deal.

IT WAS A HUGE DEAL, STILES. HOW DID HE NOT REALIZE THIS?

"Are you sure it's not dust?" In his beard. He touched the spot like his beautiful beard had betrayed him.

"Well you're touching it and it's not coming off so I'm thinking that it's not dust," Stiles said. "Are you okay?"

He looked a little freaked out right now.
