A Home Outside the UMD Campus, Maryland - Wednesday Evening

Derek was looking for a booty-call house investment property in the Maryland area for cutting down on all those hotels. Yes, a house was somehow the better investment. Just don't ask why rich people do these things. Or why Teen Wolf characters do anything. Just accept it and move on.

On one hand, he wasn't looking for an abandoned shack to lurk in. On the other, he hadn't hired a real estate agent to keep him away from the really shitty properties yet.

That would be why he was looking at a house that had probably been very nice fifty years ago. And frowning at the listing. "This says it has character."

"Is the character from a horror movie?" Stiles asked, wrinkling up his nose. He had no idea why they were doing this--personally the thought Derek was nuts--but he knew if he didn't tag along Derek would buy a three story home with a deck and a pool.

"...starting to think so," Derek replied slowly. "I think something is living under it."

"Character usually means bad things in real estate," Stiles said. "Same with cozy and unique."

"Charm too?" Derek asked, kicking at what was probably once a fence.

"Yes," he said with a nod. "Now you're getting it."

"Things were easier when there were mansions to just move into." That was squatting, Derek. No.

Stiles sighed. "Let it be known I was okay with hotels."

"I think they're warning the other places about me." For some reason. It was rude because Derek was always willing to pay for damaged beds.

"I think you're paranoid," he said, looking up at the crappy house. "I take it this place is a no?"

"Unless I want to bulldoze it and build something new on the lot." Which was tempting.

"By the time that house is finished I will have graduated," he pointed out.

Damn it, logic.

Derek sighed, putting that listing to the bottom of the stack. "Those shows make it seem easier."

And a money pit.

"What are you looking for in this place exactly?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

Close to Stiles. But that was codependent to say. "Something I can rent out."

"During the summer?" he asked. "Or are you going to rent it out right away with the caveat that we get to stay there whenever we want?"

"Maybe after you graduate it'll be for rental," Derek replied. "That'll give me two years to get something fixed how I want it."

Also booty-call house.

"And do you want it?" he asked. "Got amount of bedrooms and bathrooms in mind? Do you need a garden or a chicken coop?"

"A large tub was on the list."

AND MAYBE A CHICKEN COOP. WHAT OF IT? HE WOULD HIPSTER IT UP.

"No sex dungeon?"

"Do you want a sex dungeon?"

[robinonadderall]

Stiles pretended to think about that for a moment. "Maybe in the house we get after we're married. You do have to rent this one out, after all."

"It would be niche market to rent out," Derek replied, bumping his shoulder against Stiles'.

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah, the pervert market," he joked. "I feel like I should be protesting more about this."

"It'll cut down on travel expenses." Clearly the best reason.

Stiles huffed. "Why don't we just admit we're codependent?"
