It's Almost Normal Looking Mansion on Phoenix Way, Saturday Morning

Derek was still laying on the couch, on his stomach thank you, watching bad television this morning. His back was almost at 100%, but for now he was going to enjoy the wonder of having a place to recuperate that wasn't abandoned or looking like someone might build a meth lab there any moment now.

It was almost novel!

Now he just had to avoid Stiles until he could move normally again.

Derek sighed, pressing his face into the only vaguely stained couch as he tried to smother himself before this happened.

Just deal with it, Derek. You brought this on yourself. "Hey Der--what."

To be honest, at first that reaction was due to Derek laying on the couch like that (it made his ass look good), but then it applied to Stilinski detective skills telling him something was off.

"What do you want, Stiles," Derek said with a sigh, acting totally nonchalant about all this. Look how chalant he wasn't.

"What's wrong with you?" Don't you lie to him, Derek.

"Well, right now there's this pain in my ass," Derek shot back. Because he could snark too, Stiles.

"Shut up," Stiles snapped, doing an awfully good Derek impression there. "You told me you were fine yesterday."

"I am fine." Did you see any blood? And blood that was fresh? No? He was fine then.

"Yeah?" he said. "If I ask Mike how you were would he say you were fine?"

Derek sighed like the sulky little girl he was. "Having Scott howl over the intercom. Ring any bells?"

Yeah that definitely rang a bell. "That is not fine, Derek! We thought you were dead!"

"I'm not." FYI. "And the police where on their way when I came to, so it wasn't really on my to do list to reassure two idiots."

"That's not the point!" Stiles said, putting Puppy Joe down. It was hard to look mad when you were holding a poofball dog. "The point is you're a hypocritical dick."

Yes. Yes, he was.

"Is the other me dead?"

Stiles sighed. "No."

"Then you don't have to worry about me dying. I don't know if you're in danger of that or not," Derek shot back, being perfectly reasonable for a crazy person.

Stiles looked like he wanted to punch Derek right where Peter had clawed him. "Still not the point! God, Derek, you're such a jackass. You do realize that I only keep you up to date on what I'm doing because I know you care, right? It's not like you can protect me while I'm out there."

"I could. If you'd stop being an idiot."

"How am I being an idiot?" Well asking that question was pretty idiotic, Stiles.

"Running into dangerous situations? Ringing any bells?"

[robinonadderall]

"There's no avoiding that!" He was a Stilinski, that's what they did.

"Yes there is!" Derek replied, pushing himself up with a wince. "You're a kid, Stiles."

"Don't get up, dumbass," Stiles said, moving closer like he was in any way capable of helping if Derek hurt himself. "I'm not having this fight with you again, we both know I'm not going to stop trying to help."

Derek sighed, hands on his knees to support himself. See what happens when someone doesn't sex the crippling self worth issues out of him?

"You're going to get yourself killed." And that was more important to Derek than his own safety. Because no one who managed to get into his little circle of friends was allowed to die. Not unless you want to see him have a breakdown.

"Maybe," he acknowledged with a nod. "Hasn't happened yet. Don't act like you're not in the same situation."

Complete with one Stiles who cared more about Derek's safety than his own. They needed to be in therapy, seriously.
