It's Almost Normal Looking Mansion on Phoenix Way, Saturday Morning

Derek was still laying on the couch, on his stomach thank you, watching bad television this morning. His back was almost at 100%, but for now he was going to enjoy the wonder of having a place to recuperate that wasn't abandoned or looking like someone might build a meth lab there any moment now.

It was almost novel!

Now he just had to avoid Stiles until he could move normally again.

"Dude you are like twenty-one, your life isn't over yet either," Stiles said, rolling his eyes. "I live here and in Beacon Hills. If I wanted to avoid all this--which I don't--I would have to find a new school and convince my dad to be sheriff of some other town and I don't think he'd agree to that."

Stop ruining his attempts to push you away, Stiles.

"Doesn't mean you should run into it."

"I'm not," he said. "I only do it when I have to."

He just thought he had to all the time.

"You know this is supposed to be about you telling me when you go home, I have no idea how we got onto you badgering me into joining a convent or something."

"How is wanting you not to die a convent?"

[robinonadderall]

"I don't know, I was trying to think of a place werewolves wouldn't attack." Don't question his logic, Derek.

Derek rolled his eyes. "You're an idiot."

[robinonadderall]

"Whatever, you love it," Stiles said, getting himself more comfortable against the couch. "We really need to stop having this argument all the time."

Ha, never going to happen so long they both kept insisting on playing the hero.

Derek sighed, but didn't disagree with anything. "What happened with your friends?"

"They're fine. Ethan thanked Scott in his own jerky alpha way even though it was me that saved his ass," Stiles said, rolling his eyes. "Lydia figured out what made the werewolves go berserk."

Give him a moment while he fanboyed her genius.

"The darach put wolfsbane in Coach's whistle. Every time he used it on the bus the werewolves were breathing it in."

Derek just made a noise at the complaint. "He doesn't consider you his equal."

It was a werewolf thing. You wouldn't understand.

"Then it's someone who knows werewolves. Had to be the right blend of wolfsbane for that."

"Lydia says that back in the day people used sacrifices like this to prepare for war," Stiles said. "I don't think it's a coincidence this stuff started happening at the same time a new pack rolled into town. If the darach hates werewolves enough to start a war against them then, yeah, he'd know all about wolfsbane."

Look at him sharing things with you, Derek.

"Or they just hate the new pack." Possible. Because The Alpha Pack was awful. Just awful. "Doesn't sound like hunters."

"I have a list of suspects. Have exactly zero evidence against any of them other than hunches," Stiles said, rubbing at his eyes tiredly. "The patten of the killings changes after every third victim, the darach leaves no evidence behind and the only survivors were hopped up on wolfsbane. I've got nothing."

"You'll work it out," Derek said, managing to sound dismissive in his confidence. Because insulting needed to happen.

"You realize me working it out will lead to me going after him, right?" Just so we're clear here.

...why must you hurt him?

"You're not helping here."

[robinonadderall]

"Hey, I'm just trying to be honest," Stiles said. "Figure maybe you'll freak out less if I gave you warning ahead of time."

"I hate you," Derek grumped, leaning against the side of the couch. "You are you idiot friends."

[robinonadderall]

"Another version of you is in that group of idiot friends," Stiles said, rolling his eyes. "Do you want me to get you anything? You should lay on your stomach again, I'll move."

See, now that he had gotten all of his anger out he was capable of being attentive and caring. You just had to put up with all the bullshit first.

"Fix Netflix," he muttered, twisting a little to flop over on the couch, back toward Stiles. "Mike did something to it."

Mike did no such thing.

"Sure he did," Stiles said wryly as he reached for the remote. "Missing Real Housewives?"

[justlurkinghere]

"No." Yes. It was soothing. Shut up. "Sick of Food Network."

Because he ate half of the kitchen while healing. In his defense, he needed the protein.

"How could you be sick of Food Network?" Blasphemy! It turned out that the Netflix wasn't all that screwed up (maybe one day Derek would learn about the input button) so it didn't take long for Stiles to have it up. "Fixed."

Yeah it wasn't even broken. At all.

Well, then what excuse would he have to have Stiles come over? God, Stiles.

"Nothing on there is nearby." It was a foodtease.

"Oh my god you're such a baby," Stiles said. If he looked distracted it was because he was debating on moving to give Derek more room to stretch out or staying where he was.

"I'd offer to make you something but I don't want to add food poisoning to your other injuries."
