IHoP on the Mainland, Monday Evening

Tomorrow was Stiles' eighteenth birthday, which meant Derek was taking him out to dinner tonight. So that he could spend tomorrow with his dad and Scott.

Aren't you glad Derek was in contact with the Sheriff, Stiles? Aren't you?

Derek put the sensible, highy safety rated car into park and stared at the windshield. "Do you want your gift now or inside?"

"And then I'll be leaving you and your carrot sticks alone to eat lunch by yourselves." It's not like anybody at work would care if he left randomly.

"And you'll drink your churro cream in the bathroom?"

"Ah no, that stuff is nasty." But it smelled so good, he didn't get it. "I would walk right out the door and get Moobys."

"Your dad makes so much more sense now."

Stiles rolled his eyes. "My dad needs someone watching his health, I don't."

"Uh huh."

[robinonadderall]

"Are you avoiding the sex talk?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

Derek wasn't drinking water, but he still choked. "Are we taking about that here?"

He thought he was given the hint to change the subject!

"Where else would we have it?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"In priva--" Oh, that actually didn't work. With their control issues. "--okay, good point."

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah, exactly," he said. "So..."

How did you even start this sort of conversation?

Awkwardly, that's how.

"I liked Saturday," Derek ventured once the silence got awkward.

[robinonadderall]

"Me too," he said. "I mean, obviously. I made that pretty evident."

What with the erection and everything.

[justlurkinghere]

Yes, there was that.

Derek cleared his throat, remembering all of that on his lap. "We could do more of that."

[robinonadderall]

"I'm all for more of that, believe me." Except with a more satisfying ending than Saturday.

Stiles curled his hands around his drink like that would protect him from the awkward. "So, um, after graduation did you want to..."

He rolled his eyes at himself. If he couldn't say it then how could he expect to do it? "Did you want to have sex? Or did you want to take it slower than that?"

"You want to have sex," Derek pointed out. "I want--"

He looked away, struggling to find his words on this.

"--I hadn't really thought past kissing you yet. Or what we started on the couch."

[robinonadderall]

"I don't want to have sex unless you want to have sex," he said. "...though granted since I'm a complete and utter virgin the likelihood of me lasting long enough to get to the sex part probably isn't great."

Derek rolled his eyes, looking at a family at a nearby table. "I wasn't doing that much better," he muttered.

"Still better than me," Stiles said. "So...graduation."

[justlurkinghere]

"Graduation," Derek replied. "I can offer to get Mike a hotel room. For the noise."

Yeah, he mentioned the potential noise.

Stiles lifted his eyebrows. "You're gonna throw Mike out of his own house?"

[justlurkinghere]

"...he leaves for the full moons." Same thing.

[robinonadderall]

"I would love to be in the room when you bring this up to Mike." Because it'd be hilarious.

Derek threw his napkin at him. "I have supplies."

Usually for himself.

"Well I figured you'd have lube." 'Cause he's seen your toys, Derek. "But did we need anything else?"
