IHoP on the Mainland, Monday Evening

Tomorrow was Stiles' eighteenth birthday, which meant Derek was taking him out to dinner tonight. So that he could spend tomorrow with his dad and Scott.

Aren't you glad Derek was in contact with the Sheriff, Stiles? Aren't you?

Derek put the sensible, highy safety rated car into park and stared at the windshield. "Do you want your gift now or inside?"

"And still you've managed to find a way to spend way too much money on me." And Stiles knew there was no way to keep Derek from doing that.

"I, uh, got you something too," he said, pulling an envelope out of his hoodie pocket.

"What?" Whatever could it be?

"It's just, uh, something I thought you should have," Stiles said, handing the envelope over. "You don't have to look at it now."

Oh, you better believe Derek was opening it now. And looking deeply, deeply embarrassed. He made a noise that might have been an attempt at words, but those weren't happening just yet.

Aren't you glad you thought ahead to a survey of sexual likes and dislikes before graduation, Stiles? Now Derek would havethese few weeks to get over it.

Oh god he actually looked at it. Stiles had been hoping he'd read it later. You know, when Stiles was far, far away.

"Well I'm gonna get a table," he said, opening the door. "You take all the time you need."

Then he got out of the car and pretty much ran into the safety of the IHoP.

Stiles, you little shit!

Derek stared at the little survey for a moment long, taking in words like 'foreplay' and 'fisting' before shoving the paper into his jacket pocket so he could pretend it hadn't happened.

Then he took another moment to will away any thoughts about what Sties' answers might be--he sighed, shoving open the door to go find the table his date was hiding at.

He wasn't hiding, he was staring intently at the menu. "You made it."

"Yeah," Derek said, grabbing his own menu. Because they really needed to know the specials for this month, okay?

Stiles looked up at Derek over his menu. "There's a blank one for you in the envelope too."

'Cause now that it was out they should totally discuss it.

"...you filled it out?" Apparently he'd grabbed the blank one first. Derek looked away from the menu to stare down at his pocket. Oh god, he could just know what Stiles wanted.

"Yeah. I figured it'd be helpful," he said. "We were gonna have a talk about it before graduation and graduation's only a couple weeks away..."

So he decided to have the talk right now, apparently.

"It's just a list I got off the internet. Doesn't have everything on there, but I wrote them down on the back."

Stuff like breathplay and wearing women's lingerie. Totally normal stuff like that.

He spent a lot of time looking at porn on the internet, okay?

"Yeah," Derek said, nodding slowly as he processed this. Because his porn viewing habits were very basic. And involved top twinks.

For no reason at all.

"That's a good idea."

Just, you know, ignore how it was making him flush as he thought more about it.

Stiles looked pretty pleased with himself. "Yeah? So you're gonna fill it out later?"

"Do you need it right away?"

[robinonadderall]

"Uh, no. I'd prefer if you thought on it." And maybe google some stuff 'cause god knows Stiles had to. "But we should probably discuss some other stuff, don't you think?"

Derek cleared his throat and nodded. "Does this deserve bacon?"

[robinonadderall]

"I supposed it does," he said. "We'll call today a cheat day in honor of my birthday."

[justlurkinghere]

"Then I really like your birthday." Like that hadn't been clear before now.

[robinonadderall]

"Everybody should," he said before waving the waitress down. If Derek was going to order bacon then Stiles was going to order the most sugar covered pancakes they had.

You are going to get diabetes, Stiles!

"Do you just live on sugar?" Derek asked once she left, not thinking they were insane. It was a new thing!

"For the most part!" he said. "And caffeine. Can't forget the caffeine."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek rolled his eyes at that. "I could improve your diet."

With tofu. And vegan baked goods.

"Yeah? You gonna cook for me all the time?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"I could." Other than their trips to Denny's. He smiled like he was that other version of Derek.

"I'll pass," he said. "Especially when you're all chipper about it."
